Some of you may have heard by now that Rocky Plains Elementary students, teachers, and administrators earned the distinction of making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2007/2008 school year; making this our third consecutive year!
The staff and I met over the summer to plan strategies to address student strengths and weaknesses. We have reviewed and analyzed test data, and are coming up with ways to help our students do better. Our staff will continue with this practice throughout the year and invite parents to attend EBIS meeting and SST meetings. You will see the following new additions this year: Co–teaching: two certified teachers in some classes for Reading/Language and Math, implementing a mentoring program, utilizing School Council more, and expanding our school partnerships.
We also pledge to keep you, our parents, informed by using student agendas, bi–weekly progress reports, written notes, and scheduled parent conferences. You are welcome to come to the school to visit, by appointment, with your child’s teacher. We are here to maximize instructional time and try our best to make sure every student learns. As always, the administrators are here to assist you with any questions or concerns.
Again, I look forward to another safe and productive school year for your children.
