Music News...Music 2008 -- 2009

Welcome back to Rocky Plains!

Last year we progressed further than ever before in the areas of music theory, music literacy, and we even performed out first school play!  This year, I expect we'll go even further.  We have many opportunities for our students to perform - PTO performances, 5th-grade choir, honor chorus, and much more.  Come to music with your brains ready to learn!

Quest News...Quest 2008 -- 2009

Educational services are offered through the Quest program to academically gifted students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, who meet state eligibility requirements. At the elementary level the program is one of enrichment, utilizing specially trained teachers. Elementary teachers focus on assessing each student’s level of individual achievement in reading, math, and writing. This assessment information is used in developing plans for student improvement in these basic areas.

This year, our curriculum will focus on inventors and inventions. Many GPS (Georgia Performance Standards) goals, in several areas of academics, will be taught. There are a lot of great activities planned for each grade level.

Students will be using research skills with our new unit focus. They will also be required to create and design an invention of their own. Vocabulary will continue to be a part of our learning focus. Many logic, critical thinking and problem-solving skills will also play an important role in the gifted program.
