The Newton County School System is headed by school superintendent, Dr. Gary S. Mathews. The school superintendent functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the school system and reports directly to the Newton County Board of Education. Dr. Mathews has established an Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to support him. Members of the ELT include the Deputy Superintendent for Operations, the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the Executive Director for School Improvement, the Director of Human Resources, the Director of Public Relations, and the Business Manager.
