The Newton Foundation for Educational Excellence is pleased to announce the recipients of the Spring 2014 ReImagine Newton Classroom Grants.  In February, the Foundation announced that it would fund grants at each school level- elementary school, middle school, and high school. Any Newton County School System teacher could apply for the grants, which could be used to pay for a wide variety of innovative instructional projects and materials.

“The Foundation received twenty-nine applications across all grade levels and disciplines, reflecting the caliber of our innovative educators and their desire to go beyond the standard curriculum,” said Board Chair Hillary Edgar. “It is gratifying for our volunteer Board to be able to meet the needs of our public educators with the private funds we have raised.”

Dr. Jami Berry, Grant Sub-Committee Chair, stated, “We were delighted to see grants that integrated technology, literacy, and life skills funded during this cycle.  In addition to touching students at every grade level across four schools, the funded grants will also serve the local community through the creation of gardens that will provide food to needy families.  These funded grants are a testament to both the creativity of the Newton County School System’s teachers and to their innovative spirit in working to enhance curricular delivery through real-world application.”

The Foundation awarded over six thousand dollars in grants to the following teachers and projects:
