The Newton College and Career Academy (NCCA) refurbishes surplus desktop computers in order to provide low income students with a computer. The Computer Club at NCCA will be responsible for refurbishing these computers. In order to receive a computer, a middle school student and his/her parent must complete an application, one per household. This offer is available for middle school students receiving free or reduced lunch benefits only. (The first distribution will be held by lottery drawing this December, 2014. We are awarding ten desktops per Middle School with a total of 50 computers this year, and there will be an additional 50 desktops distributed in Spring 2015.)

Refurbishing Computers for Students

NCCA Computer Club members and staff work together to refurbish old computers, making them "like new" to be donated to students for a $25.00- onetime fee. Once the parent signs the purchase agreement and takes the computer home, the $25.00 processing fee is non-refundable. If your computer does not work within 7 days, you have one week to return the CPU for a replacement tower. Payment is by cash or money order made out to NCCA. No warranty. What is included in the package- black case CPU with Intel Core 2Duo processor, minimum 2 GB of RAM, minimum 80 GB hard drive, one black keyboard, one mouse, one LCD monitor, and necessary cables with Vista OS.
*Families are required to pay a $25 non-refundable processing fee and attend a mandatory one hour training class at Newton College and Career Academy on December 9th, 2014. A parent and middle school student must be present before taking the computer home.
