Members of Middle Ridge Elementary School’s Junior Beta Club recently made a trip to Newton County Animal Control to drop off much needed supplies for the many cats and dogs in the shelter. According to Mrs. Allison Pittman, coordinator of the Middle Ridge Jr. Beta Club, the students collected supplies for approximately two months as part of their community project. Donations included food, toys, food bowls, leashes, collars, training pads, rawhide bones, towels, and blankets.

“Not only were our animals’ lives enriched by the donations but I believe each time a student spends time helping animals or people their lives are enriched as well,” said Terri Key-Hooson, Director of Newton County Animal Control. “The animals their donations served are animals that may never have had a good meal, or toys to play with, or were ever bathed.  Their spirits were lifted as well as our staff's to receive such caring and thoughtful donations.”
