The Newton Foundation for Educational Excellence is pleased to announce the recipients of the Spring 2015 ReImagine Newton Classroom Grants.  In March, the Foundation announced that it would fund three grants for up to $2000 each. Any Newton County School System teacher could apply for the grants, which could be used to pay for a wide variety of innovative instructional projects and materials.

“We were very pleased with the number of applications we had for this grant cycle. I feel as more teachers become aware of the grant process we will continue to see the application numbers grow,” said member Anjela Ellis. “It is very rewarding to review the grants and see the great ideas and motivation of our teachers and administrators in Newton County.”

Dr. Jami Berry, Education Foundation Board Chair, added, “The committee members were extremely impressed by the proposals submitted during this grant cycle, and we are especially pleased that the funded projects support both STEM education and the school system’s writing across the curriculum initiatives.”

The Foundation approved just under six thousand dollars in grants to the following teachers and projects:

Mansfield Elementary School

Alicia Lindsey

Sustainability Learning Garden and STEM Lab

Indian Creek Middle School

Lori McGovern

Comic Life Software

Eastside High School

Beth Bryan and Alexis Laughhunn

Publication Station

We congratulate each of the teachers for their innovative ideas and look forward to seeing their projects come to life!
