One of our 2014 winning submissions.
Artwork by LaDamien Norwood, Middle Ridge Elementary

Newton County School Superintendent (NCSS) Samantha Fuhrey is inviting NCSS students to design the cover of her official holiday card. The contest is open to all NCSS elementary, middle, and high school students.

Students are asked to design a theme that reflects winter in the school district, Covington, Georgia, the holidays, etc. All ideas are welcome; however, only nonreligious themes and languages will be considered in order to be inclusive of our diverse student body. All artwork is due in the NCSS Office of Public Relations (2109 Newton Drive NE, Covington, GA 30014) by the end of the school day on Friday, November 13, 2015.

Artwork should be in color and may be submitted as paintings, drawings, marker, etc. All artwork should be on 8 ½ by 11 white copy paper. Submissions should not be folded to make a card. Artwork will be scanned to fit the cover of the final card so students have the entire 8 ½ x 11 page to create their designs. Students should include their name, school, and grade on the back of the submitted artwork. (Please don’t use marker or dark pen, which could bleed through to the artwork on the front). Please note that artwork will not be returned.

In order to participate, parents or guardians should complete a student participation form, which can be found on the NCSS website at Winners will be notified by December 1, 2015.

“I know we have many talented artists in our district so I can’t wait to see the designs submitted,” said Fuhrey. “If last year’s artwork is any indication, I know we will have some incredible options to choose from. I think it’s only fitting that the school district’s official holiday card showcase the talent we have in our school system.”
