Walmart (Industrial Blvd. location) Assistant Manager Dan Brown Speaking to NC Theme School Teachers

Teachers at Newton County Theme School at Ficquett were surprised today when they learned  at their afternoon faculty meeting that they had been entered into a drawing to win one of twenty $50 gift cards courtesy of Covington’s local Walmart on Industrial Boulevard—a $1,000 donation for the teachers to purchase much needed classroom supplies.

“This marks the sixth year that the Covington Walmart has put $1000 directly into the hands of Newton County teachers,” said Walmart Assistant Manager, Dan Brown. “We have also donated several thousand dollars’ worth of school supplies for use in local classrooms.”

“We are very honored to have received this award from Walmart,” said James Meneguzzo, principal of Newton County Theme School at Ficquett. “We are very fortunate to have such a great company in our community that does so much to help support education.  I am very happy and proud that our faculty and staff were recognized for all the wonderful things they do each and every day to provide the best educational experience for our students.”

Brown told the Theme School staff, “We are proud to honor our community’s teachers, who give time and often their own money to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful throughout the school year. At Walmart, we are dedicated to supporting our nation’s teachers by providing support and resources needed to continue educating the future leaders of our community.”

So no one got left out, Brown also brought along several large boxes of school supplies to the school. Those teachers who didn’t win a gift card got a free shopping spree through the boxes, and as a result, loaded up on much needed supplies for their classrooms and students.

“Our associates are very proud of the store's involvement and partnerships with Newton County School System,” said Brown. “We are pleased to recognize Newton County Theme School as our 2015 Teacher Rewards recipient. Mr. Meneguzzo and his faculty are very deserving of this honor.”
