The Newton County School System is in the process of submitting applications for two 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grants for afterschool programs at a total of six schools.  The application for the Newton County 21st CCLC After School Academic Program (ASAP V) proposes to serve 50 students in Grades 9-12 at Alcovy High School and 50 students in Grades 6-8 at Clements Middle School and at Liberty Middle School. The second application for the Newton County 21st CCLC After School Academic Program (ASAP VI) proposes to serve 50 students in Grades 6-8 at Veterans Memorial Middle School and at Cousins Middle School, as well as 50 students at Heard-Mixon Elementary School.
