CONTEST APPLICATION:
Application for Holiday Card Art Contest

Newton County School Superintendent (NCSS) Samantha Fuhrey is inviting NCSS students to design the cover of her official winter holiday card. The contest is open to all NCSS elementary, middle, and high school students.

Students are asked to design a theme that reflects winter in the school district; Covington, Georgia; the holidays; etc. All ideas are welcome; however, in an effort to be inclusive of the entire NCSS student body, only nonreligious themes and language will be considered. All artwork is due in the NCSS Office of Public Relations (2109 Newton Drive NE, Covington, GA 30014) by the end of the school day on Friday, November 10, 2017.

Artwork should be in color and may be submitted as paintings, drawings, marker, etc. All artwork should be on 8 ½ by 11 white copy paper. Submissions should not be folded to make a card. Artwork will be scanned to fit the cover of the final card so students have the entire 8 ½ x 11 page to create their designs. Students should include their name, school, and grade on the back of the submitted artwork. (Please don’t use marker or dark pen, which could bleed through to the artwork on the front). Please note that artwork will not be returned.

In order to participate, parents or guardians should complete a student participation form, which can be found on the NCSS website at www.newtoncountyschools.org. Winners will be notified in early December.

“We have many gifted artists in our district and I enjoy showcasing their talent through my holiday cards,” said Fuhrey. “The artwork I’ve received the past three years has been phenomenal, and it’s always extremely difficult to choose which ones to use on my cards. I’ve received numerous compliments on the holiday cards because the artwork has been absolutely outstanding. I think it’s only fitting that the school system’s official holiday card showcase the incredible artistic talent we have in our schools.”
