The Newton County Board of Education has adopted the official calendar for the 2014-2015 school year. Students will report back to school on Friday, August 1, 2014. All schools will be closed for the September 1, 2014 Labor Day holiday after which students will not receive another holiday until Fall Break, which is scheduled for the week of October 20-24, 2014.

The next break for students is Thanksgiving Break, during the week of November 24-28, 2014. Students will then remain in school until the end of the second semester. The holiday break for schools begins on December 22 and runs through January 2. However, because Monday, January 5, 2015 is a teacher work day, students will not report back for the second semester until Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Schools will be closed later that month for the January 19 Martin Luther King Birthday celebrations.

This year, three inclement weather days are built into the school calendar. If they are not needed, students would have a mid-Winter Break on February 12, 13, and 16, 2015. Spring Break is scheduled for April 6-10, 2015 and that marks the end of the vacation breaks for students, who will finish up the school year on May 22, 2015.
