From the Principal

Dear Parents and Students:

Thanksgiving is around the corner and we are nearly finished with the first semester, I can hardly believe it! The students have done a lot of wonderful things so far and we have received wonderful news about our 2014 graduation rate, it increased from75% to 82%. I am so proud of the students and teachers who worked so hard to achieve this.

The Alcovy FFA Chapter has been recognized as a Three-Star Chapter, the highest ranking a chapter can receive at the 2015 National Chapter Award Program from the National FFA Organization. The FFA also held its First Aggie Academy during Fall Break for elementary aged students with numerous activities, events, guest speakers, and various animals. All the students had a great time.

Alcovy also had the largest improvement in the county for SAT and ACT scores, once again I am very proud of the hard work of the students in these accomplishments. We had a rising senior to complete the U.S. Army Basic Training Program during the summer and she is currently serving the Army Reserves. Alcovy had a junior receive an Award of Excellence at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts and he was in classes that was taught by five different Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine.

I have a lot to be thankful for to include working with such a wonderful faculty and staff and having the greatest students! Happy Thanksgiving and if traveling, may it be a safe one.  Go Tigers!
