From the Principal

Dear Parents and Students:

The weather is finally getting warmer which means prom is around the corner.  March 17, 2015 Newton County Sheriff’s Department conducted our Reality Wreck and did an excellent job.  They stressed to the students the dangers of texting/talking on cell phones while driving and the importance of wearing seatbelts.

We are also having after school SAT/ACT boot camps with transportation home. Please have your student contact Ms. Hartzog, room I-8, for the dates and times of these boot camps.  You do not have to be registered for a SAT/ACT test to attend these boot camps.

For parents of juniors and seniors, if your student qualifies for a SAT/ACT waiver, he or she may obtain them during their lunch from me. If your student attends the Newton College and Career Academy, he or she may obtain them from 7:45 am-8:10 am, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

March 24, at 6:30 pm in the Alcovy auditorium is our next Title I meeting.  The theme of this meeting is testing trends. We will also have a junior class meeting plus refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.  March 28, 2015 is the Junior/Senior Prom at the Westin Hotel in Atlanta. Finally, Spring Break is April 6-10.  When we return, SLO testing will begin.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Go Tigers! Sandra J. Owens, Ed.D., NBCT
