From the Principal

Dear Parents and Students:

Wow! January 2016 has been a great month for the Alcovy students and faculty.  First, Alcovy won the Innovation Expo 2016 with plans of developing a STEAM Lab.  Next, Alcovy won the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl for Newton County Schools that was held at Newton High School. Last but not least, Alcovy won the Robotics Tournament recently held at the Newton College and Career Academy. I am so proud of the students and their hard work!

For parents of juniors and seniors, if your student qualifies for a SAT/ACT waiver, he or she may obtain them during their lunch from me. If your student attends the Newton College and Career Academy, he or she may obtain them from me at 8:15 am, Tuesdays through Fridays. Also, please check our website regularly for the ACT/SAT Boot Camps that we are having after school and certain weekends.  Students will need to sign up in the counselors’ office for the boot camp he or she wishes to attend.

We have several events coming up.  We have AP Night February 4, 2016 at 6:30 pm and Tiger Tools for Success is February 25, 2016 at 6:00 pm.  Both of these events will be held at Alcovy High school. Winter break for the students is Feb. 11 through Feb. 15, 2016. If traveling, please be safe and I look forward to seeing the students again February 16, 2016.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Go Tigers! Sandra J. Owens, Ed.D., NBCT
