Mr. Jeff Meadors,

Mr. Meadors began his first term on the board in January 2011. He currently works with the College Credit Now Programs at Georgia Perimeter College’s (GPC) Newton Campus. He is a member of the Walton Education Career Partnership, a member of the Rockdale Career Academy Executive Advisory Council, the Eastside High School Counseling Advisory Council, the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement’s 60-member Data Utilization Team (2010-2012), and is an instructor of English at the Newton Campus of GPC.

Mr. Meadors holds a BA, magna cum laude, in English from Mercer University (1986) and both MAT and DAST degrees in Educational Studies from Emory University. He also holds an effective level L-6 leadership certificate with the Georgia Department of Education earned through the University of Georgia. A former assistant principal and teacher in middle, high, and alternative school settings, Mr. Meadors has served as an adjunct faculty in the graduate program at Emory University in the Division of Educational Studies and a supervisor of student teachers at Emory University.

Mr. Meadors has made presentations on topics of education and schools in San Diego, Chattanooga, Savannah, and Atlanta. An educator since 1987, he has experience in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Throughout his career, Mr. Meadors has received numerous awards, including the 2010 USG Chancellor Award of the University System of Georgia, the 2010 Newton County School System Counselor Advocate of the Year, and the 2011 Georgia Perimeter College Access & Capacity Award. He is a member of the Two-Year College Association, Southeast and Smart Growth Newton County, and the state-wide Gates Foundation Data Utilization Review Project Team through the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement.

Mr. Meadors is a supporter of the 2050 Build Out Plan of the Newton County Leadership Collaborative and is a co-chair of the Newton County 2011 Back 2 School Block Party. He serves on the Communications Committee of the Leadership Collaborative and is an advocate of and donor to The Newton Education Foundation.
