BOARD MEMBER TERM OF OFFICE
Date: JANUARY 4, 1999

The terms of office of the members of the Board of Education of Newton County in office on December 31, 1976, shall expire on January 1, 1977. At the 1976 general election, members of the board from all five education districts shall be elected. The members of the board elected at said election from education districts 1, 3, and 5 shall take office on January 1, 1977, and shall serve terms of two years and until their successors are elected and qualified. The members of the board elected at said election from education districts 2 and 4 shall take office January 1, 1977, and shall serve terms of four years and until their successors are elected and qualified. Thereafter, successors to members of the new board shall be elected at the general election immediately preceding the expiration of the member's term of office, shall take office on the first day of January following their election, and shall serve for a term of four years and until their successors are duly elected and qualified.
