HEARINGS (APPEALS)
Date: JANUARY 4, 1999

The Newton County Board of Education shall constitute a tribunal for hearing any matter of local controversy in reference to the construction or administration of the school law, with power to summon witnesses and take testimony.

Anyone who wishes to contest a policy, rule, or administrative action taken previously by the Board may appeal to the Board of Education.

The Newton County Board of Education shall notify any appealing parties in writing of the Board's decision and of their right to appeal the decision of the local Board of Education to the State Board of Education. Such notification shall clearly describe the procedures and requirements for such an appeal as specified by law.
