EXECUTIVE SESSIONS
Date: JANUARY 4, 1999
Closed sessions may be necessary to conduct business which because of its special or sensitive nature may be hindered by public scrutiny at that time. These sessions shall comply with all laws pertaining to the actions of public policy-making bodies. By majority vote of quorum present, the Board may call a closed session for the following reasons:
1. Meetings held for investigative purposes under duties or responsibilities imposed by law;
2. Meetings when discussing the future acquisition of real estate;
3. Meetings when discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, hiring, disciplinary action or dismissal or periodic evaluation or rating of a public officer or employee;
4. Attorney-client privilege recognized by State law; and
5. Meetings when conducting a hearing or an appeal of a student disciplinary action.
Closed sessions may occur only for reasons as specified by law, and must be re-opened to the public for vote. Such vote shall be recorded in official minutes open to public inspection and shall indicate how each board member voted
When a meeting is devoted in part to matters properly considered in executive session, any portion of the meeting not subject to any such exception shall be taken, recorded, and open to public inspection.
The assembling together of a quorum of the members of a governing body or committee for the purpose of making inspections of physical facilities under the jurisdiction of the Board or for the purposes of meeting with the governing bodies, officers, agents, or employees of other agencies at places outside the geographical jurisdiction of the Board and at which no final official action is to be taken shall not be deemed a meeting.
