ADMINISTRATIVE TENURE
Date: JANUARY 4, 1999

The Newton County Board of Education hereby provides that the following classes of administrators are entitled to the same protection and procedures which exist for the renewal of contracts for teachers pursuant to Georgia law:

1. Administrators who accept a school year contract as an administrator with the Newton County Board of Education for the fourth consecutive year; and

2. Administrators who have administrative tenure in another school district and, in a consecutive year, are employed as an administrator with the Newton County Board of Education and accept a third consecutive school year contract as a school administrator with the Newton County Board of Education.

Except as otherwise provided in this policy or Georgia law, school administrators shall have no rights to continued employment or tenure rights.

For the purposes of this policy, the terms "school administrator," "school year," and "school year contract" shall have the same meaning as in the Fair Dismissal Act.

This policy shall not apply to persons who first became school administrators before August 20, 1996.
