Substitute Teaching in Newton County

If you hold a teaching certificate and are not under contract call the Human Resources Office to inquire about long-term substitute teaching vacancies and eligibility.

Effective July 1, 2008, the Newton County School System will no longer offer substitute teacher training sessions. These sessions will be offered through Griffin Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), located in Griffin, GA.

Candidates interested in substitute teaching in Newton County will need to attend one of the half-day sessions held at Griffin RESA. Upon completion of this session, each candidate will receive a certificate. This certificate is required in order for a candidate to obtain a substitute teacher application packet from the Newton County School System Human Resources Department.

Once an application packet is issued, the candidate must submit the completed packet to the NCSS HR Department. At this time candidates will be fingerprinted.

Time: 9 AM to 12 Noon

Fee: $25 Cash (must be exact change) or Money Order. (Griffin RESA will NOT accept checks.)
