Teacher of the Year

  Patrice Peek

Congratulations are in order to Mrs. Peek, 7th grade math teacher, for being named Clements Teacher of the Year by her peers. Mrs. Peek is in her eighth year of teaching having also taught at Veterans Memorial Middle School  and Clements Theme School. Another subject she has taught is Language Arts.  Her husband is James Peek, principal at VMMS. They have a 5 month old daughter, Samia Nicole. She has two brothers, five nieces and two nephews. . Glynn County (Brunswick, Georgia) schools are where Mrs. Peek began her education. She attended Altama Elementary, Jane Middle School and Brunswick High School.  She continued her studies at the University of Georgia and Georgia College and State University attaining a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education degree and a Master of Education degree in Middle Grades Education. She is also certified to teach gifted students.

With both parents being educators, Mrs. Peek was intrigued at an early age at their profession and the rewards, accomplishments and frustrations they experienced with the job.  Her passion for mathematics grew and she knew she wanted others to love the subject as she still does today. Working with 10-14 year olds as a camp counselor solidified her desire to work at the middle school level. Mrs. Peek says her favorite part of the job “is sharing my love of mathematics with my students and seeing the looks of excitement when the students master a concept or a standard. Those looks make working as a teacher rewarding.”

What kind of advice does she have to share? “Never give up! Life may bring obstacles but education, motivation, and determination will help you reach your dreams and increase success.”

Besides her love for her family and teaching, Mrs. Peek’s hobbies include reading and completing puzzles. Clements Middle School is truly fortunate to have such an inspiring, loving teacher as one of its own.
