Welcome to Newton County School System!

To provide educational excellence for all students.

The month of SEPTEMBER’s instructional focus for the district is DEDUCTIVE REASONING.

Deductive reasoning is defined as “supporting generalizations with specific details”;reasoning from the general to
the specific; deductions are based in facts and rules. An example of a deduction is a “Syllogism”:

All poodles are dogs (major premise).
All dogs are animals (minor premise).
Therefore, all poodles are animals (conclusion).

It is the opposite of INDUCTIVE REASONING where you use specific details to make a generalization.
