I am proud to say that I am a product of the Newton County School system. I grew up in Oxford and attended Palmer Stone Elementary, then Cousins Middle and graduated from Newton High School. I was delighted to return “home” and begin my teaching career after college. I graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. After a few years teaching, I wanted to further my education so I attended The University of Georgia to obtain my Master’s degree. I graduated from UGA in 2008. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and we have 2 wonderful children; Kaleigh is 2 and Liam is 1. When I am not busy with my kids (which is not very often), I LOVE to read! I can easily spend an entire day wrapped up in a good book. The 2011-2012 school year was my 9th year teaching. I started teaching at West Newton Elementary then transferred to Ficquett Elementary and now I am thrilled to be at Fairview. I taught 2nd grade for 4 years and then made the move to 3rd, where I’ve been for the past 5 years! I love being a teacher. I believe that the teachers I had in elementary school made the biggest impact on my life. I loved, admired and adored every one of them. They inspired me to become a teacher and my parent’s love and support made it possible. Without any of them I would not be the person or the teacher that I am today. I hope that I can make the same impact on my students that my teachers made on me. It is an honor to be chosen as teacher of the year in a school that is filled with outstanding teachers. |
