7th grade students recently toured the City of Covington constructed wetland on Emory Street. As tour guide, Mr. Kevin Sorrow, City of Covington Water Reclamation Department Assistant Manager, explained how the wetland cleans the water from the Covington Square before it flows into Little Dry Indian Creek, and explained how the wetland was constructed. These students will act as experts later on in the year when the rest of NCTS 7th grade builds models of this type of wetland. Pictured are Tania Greene, Josiah Jordan, Daryl Williams, Mr. Kevin Sorrow, Shaw Coggins, Garrett Sorrow, Kellee Williams, and Josie Evans.

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff, I want to welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year.  We had another great year last year with many of our students receiving recognition for outstanding academic achievements as well as achievements in extra-curricular activities such as, athletics, band, drama performance, chorus, etc.  We are very proud of all that our students achieved last year and look to continue to support their educational excellence.  We want to continue to provide an environment where students are challenged to be the best they can be in all that they do.  We want to continue to provide an environment that is safe, motivating, engaging, and encourages collaboration as well as critical thinking so that our students receive the best educational experience possible.

Our accomplishments are a result of successful collaboration between the school and all of the parents.  We greatly appreciate all the ways that you, as parents, help to support your children, as well as the school on a daily basis.  We also continue to welcome the community to come and see all the wonderful things that take place in our building, as well as value and appreciate the support the community provides in helping to educate our students.  We invite parents and community members to be a part of the Theme School by participating in P.T.O, being members of the school council, as well as taking part in any of the activities that we have throughout the year such as; Fall Festival, Field Day(s), Career Day(s), etc.  Please be sure to visit our school and P.T.O. websites regularly (links provided below) so that you can keep updated on all the important announcements and great events that will occur throughout the upcoming school year.

In closing, the administration, faculty, and staff are excited to start another school year, as well as the opportunity to work with you and your children.  We are honored that you chose our school and will continue to work together with you to provide your children a high quality, well-rounded, educational experience.  Please do not hesitate to contact me, my administrative team, or any of the faculty and staff should you need our assistance.  Once again, welcome to the Newton County Theme School and we look forward to a great year!!!
