From the Desk of Dr. Lynne DiNardo

Our school calendar has been packed with exciting activities both during and after school.  Saturday School students attended field trips to Fernbank, LEGOLAND, and the Aquarium. Fourth and fifth grade students had the opportunity to compete in the system-sponsored Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl where FHES placed 1st! After a full day of learning important music skills, the Honor Chorus students gave a wonderful performance for parents and family members at Alcovy High School.  We had a great turnout for our annual Relay for Life Dance in February where Coach Thomas was the King. Students participating in Hoops for Heart and were given the chance to SLIME me as one of the prizes.  Pre- K registration was held in February- if you missed it please call Mrs. Burden at the county office.

Upcoming events include: Bell to Bell celebration, Georgia Milestone Testing, Relay for Life family Movie Night, Kindergarten registration, fifth grade Lunch on the Lawn, and Field Day. Award Days will be held on May 19, 20, and 21 so please watch for grade level information to be sent home early in May. We are also currently sponsoring a Coin Challenge in order to help Make a CHANGE in the fight against cancer.

Our goal has always been to strive daily to ensure the safety and education of all of our children. Please help us meet this goal when you are visiting our building. Always sign in and out in the office, wear your visitor badge so that it is easily visible to staff members, and be prepared to show ID if you come to visit or checkout a student. We will continue to hold regular safety drills with our staff and students. Please feel free to stop by the office or call me if you have any questions or concerns. While we know some of these measures are not always convenient, the safety of our students is our first priority.

As parents/guardians, you are an essential part of your child’s success. It takes the community, parents, educators, and students working together to build a productive future for our children. Please email or call your child’s teacher if you have any concerns or questions.

Thank you for everything you do to help ensure the success of our students.

Dr. Lynne DiNardo
