Newton County Empty Stocking Fund Information

Empty Stocking Fund applications are currently available at The Salvation Army, 5193 Washington Street.  A checklist of required information is attached to the application, and the completed application with copies of required documents are due no later than October 24th at 5pm.  At that point a committee will review them.  Because the Salvation Army does not have enough staff or volunteers to make copies of everyone’s documentation, they are providing a copy machine in their lobby during office hours (Tuesday-Thursday 9:30am-12pm) for anyone who does not have a way to make copies.

From the Desk of Dr. Lynne DiNardo

I would like to take a minute to thank the parents, students, staff, and community for a great start to the new school year.  Flint Hill Elementary School is an exciting place where student achievement is a priority.

This year we have started the Bell to Bell program. Students that are in class every day from the first bell to the last bell will receive a small treat sponsored by our PTO. We have many students that will participate in our first celebration. Students have begun participating in Chorus, Reading Bowl, and Art Club. Staff members are participating in ongoing professional learning activities to ensure that we are using Research Based Instructional Strategies to reach our goal of increasing student learning and integrating the use of technology in classroom lessons.

Upcoming events include Red Ribbon Week, our annual Donuts for Dad, fall break, the Book Fair, and a Veterans Day breakfast.  Our first PTO program will take place at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 7, and Pizza Bingo will be held on November 13.

At Flint Hill Elementary School, we strive daily to ensure the safety and education of all of our children. With your continued support, we will provide opportunities for our students to achieve academic success.
