From the Principal

Indian Creek Middle School was established in 1997 as a part of the Newton County School System. ICMS is located in the city of Covington, Georgia, an eastern metropolitan area of Atlanta. The faculty and staff at Indian Creek Middle School dedicates itself to the success of all students. As we bridge the gap between elementary and high school, we have the important task of keeping each student academically successful. We will not forget that the school belongs to our community and its citizens. Therefore, we want all our parents and students to feel ownership. It is our pledge to you that we will emphasize academics, safety, and moral character. We need every home in the community to join with us in this endeavor!

Summer Reading

On average, students lose up to 2 month of reading skills over the summer. NCSS wants to stop that! Newton County Schools has a summer reading program. Please click here to learn more about the summer reading program. Books listed are SUGGESTIONS, not required - students may read any age-appropriate book for the assignment.

New Resources

We have several new online resources to help your student succeed! The first is iXL. iXL provides support in Math and Language Arts in a fun, self-paced and individualized way. Student logins are firstnamelastname@indiancreekms and 123456 for the password (change to 0lunchnumber).

Next, we have LearningBlade. Students participate in interactive missions while reinforcing academic skills and learning about careers and technology. Students login with firstnamelastname as the username and 123456 for the password (they will change the password to 0lunchnumber).

Finally, we have Vocabulary.com. Students love learning about vocabulary while competing against others in the school! Students follow a link to join teachers' classes. Students create their own username and password; we recommend using the same as their school one.

We're Reading!

Newton County is reading, and so are we! Learn more about the NCSS Reading Campaign here. At Indian Creek, we're recognizing and celebrating our reading success with badges. As students read, they earn badges for their reading. Reading success is different for all students, and our badges are designed to recognize the power of reading, especially pleasure reading. As we roll out our badge program, be sure to ask your child what badge he or she is working towards! See our badges and learn more here.

Microsoft Office for Students

Using the Email/Office 365 link at the top of the page, all students and staff have online access to Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Simply login with a county assigned email address. Student email addresses are the NCSS username (last name, first initial, middle initial, MMDD of birth) @newtonstudents.org (ex: mcgovernle1208@newtonstudents.org). Passwords are whatever the student has set his/her password to be. Want more? Students can download Microsoft Office onto their computers, phones, and tablets for FREE. 5 free downloads per student. Click here for instructions.

Congratulations to Deborah Peterson, Science - our 2018 Teacher of the Year!
