Mrs. Pam Akin

Pam started college when she was 36 years old and graduated just two months before her oldest child graduated from high school.  She entered her first classroom when she was 42 and is in her twelfth year of teaching.  She began as a 4th grade teach, taught 2nd grade for five years and is teaching 4th grade once again.  Pam achieved the status of National board Certified Teacher in 2002 and completed her Master's degree in Reading and Literacy in 2005.  Pam often serves in a leadership capacity both at the school and county level.  She was the catalyst for establishing a teacher's book resource room at Livingston.

Pam has two married children, one grandson , and another grandson due in October.  She and her husband were high school sweethearts and have been married for 34 years.  Pam enjoys writing poetry and songs, which she uses regularly to teach concepts...or just to have fun.  One of her dreams is to become published writer.  She loves cooking and taking her dog on daily walks.

Pam loves being in the classroom and enjoys trying new ideas and strategies.  Learning is a passion for her and she tries to ignite that passion in her students.  She may go home exhausted and discouraged...but the next day she returns, hoping again to make a difference.
