We are very excited about our NEW afterschool program. This is a change from our previous program. The program is held Monday thru Friday from 2:15pm (dismissal) until 6:00pm. We emphasize Reading and Math CRCT enrichment everyday and we also have many other fun-filled activities (i.e cooking, computer lessons, physical fitness, Spanish, etc). Please ask in the office about how you can enroll your child TODAY!

School Improvement Plan We at Heard Mixon Elementary are dedicated to improving student achievement in every area. For the 2010-2011 academic year, we have developed a School Improvement Plan which will serve as a guide in implementing programs and curriculum changes to ensure the success of our students. Bus Route Newton County School System uses Versatrans, a web-based application to provide route information. Enter your address and Versatrans will tell you the number of the bus that picks up in your area, about what time the bus gets to your stop, and how far you have to walk to get to your stop. You can also visit Newton County School System's transportation website. Here you will find information on bus safety, rules for riding the bus, and other policies and procedures.
