One significant purpose of Georgia
Master 4-H Club is to promote 4-H programs by supporting
projects, funding scholarships for deserving students, and
recognizing outstanding service. During the last year,
recognition and funding was given to these exceptional people. The 2009 Master 4-H Scholarship
recipients were as follows: Timothy Austin Suggs of Tift County
received the Bess Cabannis Scholarship. Jamey Knight of Berrien
County received the Pinckney Scholarship. Rebekah Dawn Bowen of
Emanuel County received the Martha Harrison Jones Scholarship.
Ashley Buford of Crisp County received the Master 4-H
Scholarship. These scholarships were each $1,000. At the annual meeting held at Rock
Eagle on June 20, 2009, Additional, Honorary, and Outstanding
Masters were recognized. A nomination and selection process
determined the recipients. Additional Master Member
recognition goes to someone who had an outstanding 4-H career
but was never a state contest winner. The recipients and their
county when a 4-Her were Hannah Crosby of Johnson County, Linda
Warbington Freeman of Cherokee County, Morgan Erika Evans of
Dodge County, E.B. Jones, Jr. of Lowndes County, Sonya Ragan
Jones of Bleckley County, and Gary King, Jr. of Dodge County.
Honorary Master Member recognition
goes to someone who is not a former 4-Her but has contributed to
the success of the 4-H program at the county, district, or state
level. The recipients and their current positions were April
Beeland with GA 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association, Aletha Black
serves as volunteer with Lowndes County 4-H, James T. Floyd is
Livestock Program Director with GA National Fairgrounds and
Agricenter in Perry, Outstanding Master 4-H Member recognition goes to someone who has made significant contributions to the Master 4-H Club program. The 2010 recipients and counties where each mastered are Charles Inman of Ware County, Harold Joiner of Laurens County, and Jerry Whitaker of Henry County
