Newton High School
2010 Summer Reading Guide,
Enrichment Activities and Math Packets
Ah, summertime...a time for students to relax, to travel, and to have fun.  While reading novels may not be your idea of fun, research has shown a direct correlation between academic success and the amount of reading a student does.  The more a student reads, the better his/her grades will be and the potential for a higher P.S.A.T. and S.A.T. test score increases.  Therefore, the Newton and Eastside English departments recommend that ALL students read at least two books from the grade you will be in next year, but we require that all students read one (1) of the books.  During the first three weeks of the fall semester, you will take either an Accelerated Reader test or some other form of graded evaluation on the book(s) you read.  Our book list has been distributed to local bookstores and our public library, so you should be able to find these books. So, choose a book, relax by the pool and READ!!!
