ELL English Speakers of Other Languages he ELL Program at West Newton aids in the success of limited English proficient students in an English speaking classroom. The goal is to have students succeed in all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) both socially and academically and to be able to understand and function successfully in American culture. The ELL Program at West Newton currently services about 110 students in grades kindergarten thru fifth grade. The ELL materials compliment the standards students are working on in their classrooms. Computer programs, small group instruction, and hands-on activities are used to reinforce standards as well.
