The Newton County Steam School now offers basketball and cheer.
The Newton County Schools Athletic Program is comprised of six middle schools (grades 6-8) and three high (9-12) schools. The following is a list of interscholastic sports offered in NCS:

Middle school students are allowed to participate in sports in all grades (6-8). Middle School sports are governed under the New Rock League Constitution. Middle school students have the option to try out for the junior varsity high school sport if the team is not offered at the middle school level. The student must tryout at his/her zoned high school. Exceptions to this rule will be considered individually, considering factors like the availability of a spot on the team and the students’ ability to compete at the junior varsity level.
