Newton County Schools Shares Mid-Year E-SPLOST Project Update, Highlights Progress and Transparency Efforts

Newton County Schools is making strong progress on E-SPLOST VI projects across the district, with multiple initiatives underway and others reaching key milestones, Superintendent Dr. Duke Bradley III announced in a mid-year update released to families and community stakeholders.
Approved by voters just two years ago, the current E-SPLOST reflects the community’s confidence in the district’s ability to responsibly manage taxpayer dollars while delivering high-quality projects that support students, staff, and the broader community.
“This was an expression of trust from our community, and we take that responsibility seriously,” said Dr. Bradley. “Our focus has been on delivering projects on time, on budget, and with consistent communication along the way.”
Across the district, E-SPLOST investments are supporting modern, student-centered learning environments, enhanced safety systems, improved athletic facilities, and transportation upgrades. Strong internal planning and project management, paired with reputable contractors, have contributed to steady progress and high-quality outcomes to date.
As part of E-SPLOST VI, Newton County Schools has also expanded its commitment to transparency and public accountability. In alignment with the Board of Education’s direction, the district has implemented several new communication tools to ensure the community has clear, timely access to project information.
These efforts include the launch of a public-facing, real-time E-SPLOST Project Tracker on the district website; the addition of a standing monthly construction and E-SPLOST report on Board of Education meeting agendas; and expanded written capital project updates included in the district’s Monthly Board Notes publication.
“These tools were intentionally designed to ensure our community can clearly see how resources are being used and track progress in a meaningful way,” Dr. Bradley said.
Among the signature projects currently underway is the renovation of East Newton Elementary School. The project is transforming the legacy campus into a modern, safer, and more welcoming learning environment, with updated classrooms and media spaces, improved lighting, technology-enhanced instructional areas, upgraded safety features, and redesigned traffic flow to improve arrival and dismissal.
In addition, major athletic facility improvements are in progress at all three high schools and five middle schools. These upgrades include new fieldhouses, improved concession and restroom facilities, artificial turf fields, refurbished tracks, enhanced seating, and other improvements designed to support student-athletes while improving the overall experience for families and community members.
“Across all projects, we remain committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer resources, with a clear focus on safety, efficiency, and the student experience,” Dr. Bradley said.
