High School Athletic Stadiums & Middle School Concessions

Athletic Facility Improvements: The Signature Project of eSPLOST VI

The signature initiative of eSPLOST VI is the enhancement of athletic facilities at each high school and middle school in Newton County. With over 60% voter approval in the most recent eSPLOST referendum, the community overwhelmingly expressed its support for providing state-of-the-art athletic environments for Newton County Schools' student-athletes.

Groundbreaking ceremonies at each high school marked the beginning of a series of exciting and transformative upgrades. These events offered students, staff, and community members a preview of the improvements planned for their respective campuses.

As part of this major project, each high school will receive the following enhancements:

  • New entranceways for both home and visiting teams

  • Concession and restroom buildings

  • Expanded bleacher seating: approximately 2,200 seats on the home side and 1,100 on the visitor side, for a total capacity of 3,300

  • Modern press box overlooking a newly installed artificial turf field, customized with each school's colors and insignia

  • Fieldhouse totaling approximately 8,500 square feet, including four locker rooms and a dedicated weight room

  • 1,200 square foot storage building with a roll-up door for easy access to larger equipment

  • An advanced digital video board located opposite the fieldhouse, offering improved capabilities compared to the original at Sharp Stadium

  • Upgraded sports lighting to LED at Alcovy High and Newton High, aligning with Eastside High's current lighting system

  • New track surface at Newton High, completing the track renovations at all three high schools

  • New audio systems at each stadium to enhance the game-day experience for fans and participants alike

Middle schools will also benefit from this initiative, with each receiving a new concession and restroom building—significantly improving the usability and comfort of their outdoor athletic spaces.

These improvements will leave a lasting legacy, supporting the growth, performance, and well-being of Newton County’s student-athletes for generations to come.
