Newton County Schools will host a Safe Schools Forum on Wednesday, September 18, at the Newton College and Career Academy. The forum seeks to bring together community members and stakeholders to discuss and share details about the district's safety strategies and the investments made by the Board of Education to enhance school safety while also addressing potential emergencies.
In light of the recent tragedy in Barrow County, Georgia, and the subsequent rise in threats against schools—primarily online—Newton County Schools, along with school districts across the region and state, have experienced increased concerns and anxieties. This forum will provide an opportunity for the Superintendent and members of the district’s Executive Safety Leadership Team to engage in dialogue about school safety, reassure the community of the district’s preparedness, and address any questions or concerns regarding emergency response.
"We understand our community’s heightened concerns following recent events, and we are committed to transparency and proactive communication," said Superintendent Dr. Duke Bradley, III. "This forum is a chance for us to share the measures we have implemented and to ensure our community feels confident in our ability to handle potential incidents effectively."
The forum is open to all community members, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in this important discussion.
