2026 Financial Audit with Zero FindingsNewton County Schools (NCS) is proud to announce that the district has once again received a clean financial audit with zero findings—marking the third consecutive year of this achievement. The audit, conducted by the independent accounting firm Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC, affirms the district’s responsible financial management practices.

For a school system the size of Newton County, one of the largest in Georgia, earning zero findings is a significant accomplishment. Achieving this distinction three years in a row underscores the strength of the district’s financial practices during a time when fiscal responsibility is top of mind for many in the community.

An annual audit is a months-long process that includes an in-depth review of nearly every aspect of the district’s financial operations. Auditors examine several components of the district’s financial infrastructure and accounting systems. A “finding” would indicate a weakness or area needing improvement—making zero findings a clear indicator of strong financial health.

Superintendent Dr. Duke Bradley, III emphasized the importance of the audit results as the district continues its budget planning process.

“Earning a third consecutive clean audit speaks volumes about our entire organization,” said Dr. Bradley. “This is more than a financial milestone—it is a reflection of our commitment to doing what is right for our students, staff, and community. I am very proud of the work that has been captained by our Chief Financial Officer and our Business Services Team.”

Newton County Board of Education Chair Mrs. Abigail Coggin echoed those sentiments, highlighting the importance of trust and stewardship.

“This is an affirmation that Newton County Schools is operating with strong financial oversight,” said Abigail Coggin, chair of the Newton County Board of Education. This level of consistency should give our taxpayers confidence that we are being responsible stewards of the funds that support our schools.”

As Newton County Schools continues to focus on student success and operational excellence, the district remains committed to maintaining the highest standards in financial management—ensuring that every dollar is used effectively to support the overall success of its schools.
