Students who will be in grades six through twelve next year are encouraged to “JumpStart the 2021-2022 school year” by participating in the district’s free, summer enrichment programs. According to Dr. Nikkita Warfield, Newton County School System Secondary Curriculum & Instruction Director, two sessions will be offered for students to attend, in-person, at Veterans Memorial Middle School for rising 6th-8th graders and at Newton High School for rising 9th -12th graders. Session I will take place June 14-June 24 and Session II runs July 5-July 15.
“JumpStart is designed to provide students with an opportunity to close learning gaps, explore new subjects, learn new skills, and develop skills needed to transition from elementary school to middle school and from middle school to high school,” Dr. Warfield explained. “Parents and students may choose for students to participate in a 2-week or 4-week session from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Courses vary per session.”
Dr. Warfield added, “We will host two informational webinars for interested parents to learn more about our summer enrichment program.”
The two webinars will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. Parents may access the webinars at the links below. Note: webinar links will open the evening of the webinars.
