Facebook’s Newton Data Center announced that the Facebook Community Action Grants program was created to address needs in Newton, Walton, Jasper and Morgan counties by putting the power of technology to use for community benefit, connecting people online or off and improving STEM education. Facebook is committed to building strong partnerships within the community, and we embrace the opportunity to have a positive local impact.

“With this grant, Liberty Middle School teachers will be able to provide students with deliberate access to digital learning in reading and content areas,” said Ms. Tiffany Merriweather, NCSS Grants Coordinator.

She continued, “Funds provided by Facebook will be beneficial in helping the school meet its goal to increase student achievement.”

“We truly appreciate Facebook for this wonderful opportunity to provide Chromebooks for our students,” said Keisa Vincent, principal of Liberty Middle School. “We know that not all of our students have access to technology in their homes so this grant provides a way to combat that issue. We definitely want to thank Facebook for their support of our school. They have proven to be a fantastic partner in education, and we are lucky to have them in the Newton County community.”
