Mr. Marc Dastous has hit the ground running as the new principal of Indian Creek Middle School. He replaces departing school principal, Dr. Swade Huff who accepted a position in another school district.

“It is truly a blessing to be a member of the Indian Creek family,” said Dastous. “The school has a rich 21-year history and we will work together to improve student achievement, build school spirit and become an inviting place for our community.”

He added, “I have already been in the building meeting teachers, students and staff since my appointment. My goals over the first 30-45 days will be to get a feel for the climate in the building, build relationships with the members of the Indian Creek family both in the building and out in the community and research our instructional practices to ensure we are utilizing all the resources at our disposal. Our long-term goal as a team will be to make Indian Creek Middle School the school everyone wants to-work in and attend.”

Mr. Dastous holds a bachelor’s degree from Western International University, a master’s in education in Instructional Technology and Design, and has completed all of the requirements of the doctorate in Instructional Technology and Distance Education with the exception of the dissertation. He earned a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Secondary Education from Ottawa University and has participated in Graduate Studies in Applied Geography at Southwest Texas State University and in Educational Media and Computer at Arizona State University. In addition, Mr. Dastous also completed an “add-on” to his certificate in Educational Leadership through the Mercer University. His experiences include teaching at both the middle and high school level and serving as a middle school assistant principal, middle school principal, high school assistant principal, and CEO of a College and Career Academy. For the last two years, Mr. Dastous served as the Principal of Putnam County High School in Putnam County, Georgia.

“Mr. Dastous has been instrumental in creating a culture of high expectations and student success in the schools in which he has worked,” said Samantha Fuhrey, superintendent of Newton County School System. “He is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families that make-up the Indian Creek Community and I am confident that Mr. Dastous will continue to expand the success experienced by the Indian Creek Middle School team.”
