NC STEAM Academy Accepting Applications for Grades 1-8

Newton County Schools announces that the Newton County STEAM Academy (NCSA) is now accepting applications for students entering 1st through 8th grade for the 2026–2027 school year.

There are two steps that must be completed for an application to be considered complete:

  1. Complete the Admission Application
The Admission Application can be printed from the NCSA website or the Newton County Schools website.

  2.  Complete the Online Registration (OLR) (Link opens May 11)
The OLR can be found on the Newton County Schools website by following these steps:
    • Click on the Parents tab
    • Select New Student Registration
    • Choose Online Registration
    • Select 2026–2027 NCSA 1st through 8th Grade Student Application

Once both steps are completed, families should bring the printed Admission Application to Newton County STEAM Academy on one of the following dates:

  • Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Additional information about the lottery process can be found on the Admission Application.

Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee placement at Newton County STEAM Academy. All applicants meeting residency, preliminary academic, and behavior requirements will be entered into a lottery in early June and placed on a waiting list in the order in which their name is drawn. Parents will be notified via email by June 30 of their student’s acceptance or placement on the waiting list. Available seats will be filled from each grade-level waiting list. Applicants may be removed from the waiting list if minimum standardized test score requirements are not met or if residency in Newton County is not maintained.
