Newton County Schools Public Relations Department Recognized with 12 National Awards
The Newton County School System’s (NCSS) Office of Public Relations has been honored by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), receiving 12 national awards for excellence in publications, social media campaigns, and video productions.
This year, the team, comprised of Director of Public Relations, Ms. Sherri Partee, and Communications and Visual Media Coordinator, Derrick Barnes, earned five prestigious Awards of Excellence for their outstanding work on two social media campaigns, a National Literacy Month video series, the "Night To Remember" video, and a tribute video for former superintendent Samantha Fuhrey's retirement. These accolades highlight the team's commitment to innovative and impactful communication strategies.
In addition, the Public Relations team secured three Awards of Merit for their Annual Report and two exceptional video productions. Their creative and informative efforts were further recognized with four Honorable Mention Awards for additional video projects.
“Our department strives to keep all NCSS stakeholders informed of important information through various means of communication,” said Sherri Partee. “It’s truly an honor to receive these awards of recognition from the National School Public Relations Association. They validate our dedication to effective communication and community engagement.”
“Our goal is to tell the story of our school system,” added Derrick Barnes. “While the awards are very special, most important is the fact that we were able to provide our stakeholders with important information regarding our school system, students, and staff.”
With this year’s accolades, the Newton County Schools Public Relations Department has now earned a remarkable total of 98 national and state awards for their publications, social media campaigns, and videos in the past three years.
