The first day of school is quickly approaching. Newton County School System urges parents to ensure their seventh and eleventh grade students have received their required immunizations before returning to school. Immunization requirements are listed below:
7th Grade Immunization Requirements
Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, 7th graders and new entrants into Georgia schools grades 8th through 12th, are required to have Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and MCV (meningococcal conjugate) vaccines prior to entering school. Parents, please plan to have your child vaccinated in advance of the start of the school year. Seventh grade students will not receive class schedules unless they have these vaccines. If you have questions, please contact your school nurse.
11th Grade Immunization Requirements
Effective July 1, 2021, children 16 years of age and older, including those who are new entrants or transfers into a Georgia school in the eleventh grade, will require proof of a booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine, unless their first dose was received on or after their sixteenth birthday. Parents, please plan to have your child vaccinated in advance of the start of the school year. Juniors may be sent home until proof of vaccine is provided. If you have questions, please contact your school nurse.
