Ms. Taylor Moody Named Newton County Schools 2025 Teacher of the Year
Newton College & Career Academy literature teacher, Ms. Taylor Moody, is Newton County Schools’ 2025 Teacher of the Year! She will now represent Newton County Schools in the Georgia Teacher of the Year Program. Ms. Moody’s prizes included $1,000 cash, a crystal vase from the Newton County Chamber of Commerce, and a free three-month car rental from Covington Ford.
Mr. Brian Coates of Alcovy High School and Ms. Heather Wood of Eastside High School were this year’s runners up. They each received a crystal vase award from the Newton County Chamber of Commerce.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude and deeply honored to be named the 2025 Newton County Schools Teacher of the Year,” said Moody after the announcement. “It’s humbling to be recognized alongside so many amazing educators. I’m excited to use this platform to advocate and become a voice for every teacher and student in our community.”
Ms. Moody began her teaching career in Newton County Schools in 2020 when she joined the Newton College & Career Academy team. She teaches world literature and composition, multicultural literature and composition, and Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition. Ms. Moody earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and her Master of Arts in Teaching English Education, both from The University of Georgia. She is currently working on her Education Specialist in Teacher Leadership at Valdosta State University.
