Parking and Shuttles

Important Information for 2025 Graduation Ceremonies at Sharp Stadium

Commencement week is almost here, and families will soon be making their way to Sharp Stadium to watch their high school seniors graduate with the Class of 2025. Parking spaces at the stadium will fill up quickly, but Newton County Schools (NCS) officials have announced off-site parking locations that will include complimentary shuttle pick-up and drop-off at Sharp Stadium.

“We will provide a shuttle service to pick up any graduation guests,” said Keisa Caslin, NCS Director of Transportation. “We encourage families to take advantage of the free parking and shuttle service to make their evening more convenient and enjoyable.”

According to Ms. Caslin, guests may park for free at the Newton County Parking Deck at 1166 Elm Street and Legion Field at 3173 Mill Street NE. Shuttle service will be provided from these two locations to Sharp Stadium.

“Our buses will begin shuttle operations at 6:15 p.m. on graduation evenings,” said Ms. Caslin. “Once the ceremonies are over, guests may use the shuttles to return to their vehicles.”

In addition to the off-site parking options, several nearby parking lots are within walking distance of Sharp Stadium, including parking in front of the former Sharp Learning Center and at the Newton County Board of Education building. Parking at these locations is free; however, shuttle service is not available as they are near the stadium.

All guests attending graduation ceremonies must also undergo metal detection screening before entering Sharp Stadium. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to allow ample time for parking, shuttle service, and security screening.

“We are looking forward to celebrating this year’s graduating classes with our families and community,” said Dr. Michael Barr, NCS Chief Operations Officer. “By using the off-site parking, nearby lots, and shuttle services, families can avoid some of the congestion near the stadium and focus on enjoying this special occasion.”
