1. What is the eligible age to register for Pre-K?
In order to register a child in the Pre-K program in Newton County Schools, a child must be four years old on or before September 1st of the current school year.
2. What does the Newton County School System Pre-K Program offer?
Our program offers:
Caring and certified teachers
Caring and licensed teacher assistants
Clean and safe schools
Bus transportation to the zoned school
Field trips
Breakfast and lunch
A GREAT learning environment

3. May my child attend any school in Newton County that offers Pre-K?
Yes. A child may attend any school - but for that school year only. After the school year ends, school records automatically transfer to the zoned school for the upcoming year and thereafter.
4. If I choose a school that my child is not zoned to attend, will transportation be provided?
No. Transportation is provided only for Pre-K students who attend their zoned school. Parents who choose to send their child to an out-of-zone school are responsible for transportation to and from school.
5. May all eligible children register for Pre-K?
Yes, all eligible children may register; however, registration does not guarantee your child a slot.
6. If all of the slots are filled at my child’s school, may I still register him or her for Pre-K?
Yes. Students who do not receive a slot will be put on the school’s waiting list. If a slot becomes available at any time during the school year, a student will be assigned to the class based on his or her order on the waiting list. The parent will be contacted.
7. Are there other Georgia lottery-funded private Pre-K programs in Newton County?
Yes. The list of private providers is available upon request.
8. Are Pre-K slots transferable?
No.
9. If I relocate to another school zone within the county while my child is in Pre-K, will I have to withdraw my child from Pre-K?
No. A child may remain at the school if the parent chooses; however, transportation to and from school is the responsibility of the parent. Of course, the parent may choose to withdraw his or her child and place him or her on the waiting list at the new school.
