Atosha LoganAtosha Logan is excited about the prospect of joining the “Cardinal Family” as the new principal of Cousins Middle School. A current assistant principal at the Newton College & Career Academy, Logan was unanimously approved at the August 21, 2019 Board of Education meeting to replace Cousins Middle School principal, Terrence Martin, who recently resigned to pursue other opportunities. Logan will officially report for duty at Cousins Middle School on Tuesday, September 4.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as the Principal of Cousins Middle School,” said Logan. “It is an honor to work alongside the faculty, staff, parents and community to ensure that all students are well-rounded and prepared for the future.”

Logan added she is anxious to start building positive relationships with Cousins Middle School’s many stakeholders.

“It is my goal to immediately develop partnerships to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential,” she explained. “Not only am I excited to begin working with the students of Cousins Middle School, but also I look forward to the work we, the parents, community, and school, will do together. As the old African proverb states, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ With that in mind, all stakeholders are invited to be an active participant in the Cardinal Family.”

Mrs. Logan holds a bachelor’s degree in health science from the University of Florida and both a master’s degree in educational leadership and an education specialist degree in management of curriculum and instruction from Nova Southeastern University. Over the course of her career, Mrs. Logan has served as a reading coach, reading and literacy coordinator, language arts teacher, and assistant principal.

“Mrs. Logan has been an integral part of the Newton College and Career Academy team and has been instrumental in facilitating a culture of high expectations marked by student success,” said Samantha Fuhrey, superintendent of Newton County School System. “She is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families that make-up the Cousins Middle School Community, and I am confident that Mrs. Logan’s enthusiasm, knowledge, care, and commitment will lead to continued student and staff success.”
