Newton County School System transportation fleet technician, Josh Secrest, recently won first place honors in the Regional Technician Skills Competition held at Griffin RESA where he competed against bus technicians from Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson school districts.
According to NCSS Transportation Director, Chad McCaskill, as part of the competition, technicians were given a 50-question multiple choice test in addition to a bus parts assessment test. Secrest earned first place honors and the opportunity to compete at the State competition.
“The entire Transportation Department is very proud of Josh and his outstanding accomplishment,” said McCaskill. “He represented our school system extremely well and his success is indicative of the many outstanding employees we have in our Transportation Department.”
