NCSS Social Media Rules of Engagement

The Newton County School System is committed to open communication with our parents and community. The District designed its Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube pages to give important information regarding the District. Please remember that the mission of the District is to provide educational excellence for all students. Because we are all role models for our students, we ask all users to engage in open and respectful dialogue.

The District reserves the right to delete comments that contain:
1. Inappropriate remarks or profanity
2. Personal attacks of any kind
3. Offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, or religious group
4. Sexually provocative or flirtatious dialogue
5. Postings that promote illicit, illegal, or unethical activity
6. Postings that communicate confidential information

To help us accomplish the goal of respectful dialogue, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines:

1. Personal issues. Do not circumvent regular communication channels for sharing personal issues and concerns. Specific allegations or personal attacks or accusations about a student, parent, employee, board member or community member will be removed.
2. Be factual. Blatantly inaccurate or false information will be removed.
3. Stay on topic. This is a page dedicated to the education of students in the Newton County School System. Comments of all kinds are welcome as long as they directly relate to our District.
4. Do not post questions for a specific employee. Contact the employee directly.
5. Please be certain that your comments are appropriate for an educational environment and fans of all ages. Remember, Facebook allows individuals 13 years and older to join.
6. No spam, advertisements, or links to other sites for the purpose of marketing goods or services.
7. Show proper consideration for others’ privacy. Do not post comments that are likely to offend or provoke others, i.e., don’t pick fights or goad others into inflammatory debates.

Abuse of the above guidelines can lead to the removal of a specific posting or the blocking/removal from our fan page.

If you have any questions concerning the operation of this online moderated discussion site, or would like to report an inappropriate comment for us to review, send an email to [email protected].

We encourage you to stay connected with NCSS. Thank you for stopping by and becoming a fan of the Newton County School System.
