2020 Student Advisory Council Application
Newton County School Superintendent (NCSS) Samantha Fuhrey is currently accepting applications for openings on her Student Advisory Council. The Council is comprised of seventh through twelfth-grade students selected through an application process. At this time,
there are currently eight vacancies in the seventh grade.
Seventh-grade students who wish to apply for the council should complete an essay packet and return it to Ms. Sherri Davis in the Newton County School System Department of Public Relations by Friday, October 23, 2020. The address is 2109 Newton Drive NE, Covington, Georgia, 30014.
“It is extremely important that we reach out to our students to get their input on what we are doing right and what we can improve,” said Fuhrey. “I was very impressed with the work of the student advisory council last year, and I expect this year to be just as productive. I enjoy working with the students, and I look forward to meeting with them this year.”
The Student Advisory Council will meet with Superintendent Fuhrey throughout the school year to discuss how decisions made at the district level are affecting students throughout the county. Meetings will take place either in a virtual format or in-person if possible; transportation to and from school will be provided for in-person meetings. Student members will serve as advisors and act as liaisons between the Newton County School System administration and the students of NCSS.
Applications are available on the homepage of the NCSS website at www.newtoncountyschools.org.
