Newton County School System (NCSS) will provide elementary, middle, and high school students with general school supplies to start the 2022-2023 school year. NCSS utilized a portion of federal funds (ESSER II) to purchase the school supplies.
“We are pleased to once again offer free school supplies to all students,” said NCSS School Superintendent Samantha Fuhrey. “While some teachers may ask for classroom-specific supplies, these free items should make up the balance of what is needed for students to begin the school year. In many instances, parents will only need to purchase a book bag and a reusable water bottle for their student.”
According to Fuhrey, the free school supplies are expected to arrive in time for Open House for distribution. Students not attending their school’s Open House may obtain their free supplies on the first day of school.
“We are excited to start the new school year and look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, August 1,” said Fuhrey.
