FAQs About Teaching in NCSS

How will I know the status of my application?

Once you submit a completed online application through TalentEd, you will receive a confirmation email. You can log into your TalentEd account at any time to:

  • View or edit your application
  • Check the status of your references
  • See if reference feedback forms have been submitted

Note: It is your responsibility to follow up with any references who haven't returned their forms.

When does NCSS begin hiring?

Hiring is handled at the school level by principals—not the Human Resources Department. Positions for the upcoming school year typically open in March, and interviews begin soon after.

To be considered for an interview, you must submit a complete online application, including three references. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by principals.

Hiring Timeline Overview:

January – February:

  • Staffing needs are reviewed and projected
  • NCS attends statewide teacher recruitment fairs
  • Applicants are encouraged to apply online
  • Current teachers may transfer within the district

March – Late April:

  • Contracts issued to returning teachers
  • Open positions posted on the NCS Job Center
  • Principals conduct interviews and submit hiring requests

May – Late July:

  • HR reviews credentials and approves hires
  • Board of Education approves final recommendations
  • Contracts are issued to new hires
  • New Teacher Orientation takes place

How do I schedule an interview?

Start by completing your online employment application and applying for any open teaching positions listed on our NCS Employment Opportunities page. Each job posting includes the contact information for the hiring principal.

You may reach out to a principal directly to express interest. However, if they wish to move forward, they will contact you to schedule an interview.

Please reach out to the Human Resources Department if you have additional questions or email us at [email protected]. Thank you for your interest in teaching with our district!
